Light Pipes

Infrared Light Pipes, Light Guides, Waveguides and Homogenizers: These products are custom-built to your dimensions. They consist of cylindrical or sometimes hexagonally shaped tube lined with a 2 1/2 micron thick layer of a highly polished Laser Gold surface. The structure itself is most often nickel, but can be structured from other metals such as copper, silver or in some cases solid gold. Wall thicknesses vary from 25 microns to 250 microns. Either curved or straight, the diameter can be as small as 0.1 millimeter. Length varies depending on diameter.

Laser Gold ^TM coatings have been developed over decades to give ultimate infrared reflectivity, which is essentially `flat’ from 1 through 12 micron. Reflectivity levels exceeding 99% have been recorded above 1.5 micron for durable, Cleanable surfaces in 0.01 to 100 micron thickness.

Illustrated are conical variations on Infrared Homogenizers. Laser Gold lining these electroformed shapes permit a collimated beam of IR energy to be dispersed and exit the cone as a "glowing plane of light."
