Gemini Telescope Planet Imager Component

Unknown to most of the public, the American Museum of Natural History is deeply involved in space exploration experiments.  One such experiment is The Gemini Planet Imager, "the next generation adaptive optics instrument being built for the Gemini Telescope. The goal is to image extrasolar planets orbiting nearby stars."
